Meet Mr. And Mrs. Swarz, our next Wedding Hashers Featured Couple! We began working with Sarah and Joe in June of 2018 for their September wedding. Their hashtag #ReachForTheSwarz helped organize their guests’ photos and was a nice personal touch for their wedding.

The Swarzes story goes way back. They met in science class in 8th grade, and the two started dating their freshman year of high school. Joe popped the question to Sarah on their tenth Christmas together. After a long day with family, Joe asked Sarah to marry him next to their beautifully decorated Christmas tree with their bunny, Beedo, as witness.

The two got married at the North Macomb Sportsmen’s Club in Washington Twp., MI. The wedding had subtle hints of the movie/book series Twilight, with purples, golds, and nature tones incorporated into the décor. Joe is a geologist and Sarah is an artist, so you can just imagine the fun they had combining their two passions to plan their big day.

The pair created a lot of the décor for the wedding themselves, they even made the centerpieces from pinecones found in their front yard! And no Twilight-esque party would be complete without twinkle lights, which were sparkling throughout the venue.

The Bride started her day with her family and bridesmaids at her grandma’s house where they had their hair and makeup done. Sarah’s dad came to the house to see her in her wedding dress for the first time, and the two shared a beautiful and emotional moment together.

During the ceremony, Sarah walked down the aisle to their ‘song’ since 9th grade (‘Whistle for the Choir’ by the Fratellis). The two read their happy-tear filled vows as their friend from high school officiated. The two were married in front of a fabulous fabric sculpture made by Sarah, her mother, her grandmother, and her aunt.

Here’s what the pair had to say about their ceremony:

Sarah: “The memory that pops up first in my mind whenever I think about our wedding is walking out of the clubhouse doors with my father towards the ceremony site. It was by far the most surreal feeling I have ever had. Seeing Joe waiting, back turned to the front of the aisle, and knowing that we had made it to the day that we always dreamt of was amazing. I will never forget the look on his face when he turned and saw me for the first time on our wedding day.”

Joe: “Seeing Sarah walk down that aisle, I’ll forever be able to live in that moment for the rest of my life because I’ve never felt so happy and proud to be in one place.”

We are #swooning!

Joes’ sister Shannon is very important to the couple. The highlight of their big day was when Shannon exclaimed, “Kiss the Bride!” at the end of the ceremony. She also made a beautiful speech and had a special dance to their favorite N*Sync song.

The Swarzes ended their night with a sparkler tunnel and jetted off to Portland, Oregon for their honeymoon.

We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Swarz!
